Agricultural cooperatives in Asan will push for the integration of production bases in earnest to overcome difficulties caused by improved rice competitiveness and reduced consumption.

According to the city, the integration of the Rice Processing Plant (RPC) is being discussed for Dunpo and Yeongin Agricultural Cooperatives, which are supported by the government.

The reason for the integration is to increase farm income by improving rice competitiveness. In the 2010s, there were discussions on integration, but it was once canceled due to differences.

However, due to the recent increase in rice prices and the aging of two RPC facilities completed in the mid-1990s, the speed, production, and quality of milling are decreasing.

Local governments in the province, including Cheonan, Dangjin, and Boryeong, are improving rice quality by launching integrated RPCs one after another.

In this crisis, the city decided to first promote the integration of RPCs of Dunpo and Yeongin Nonghyup, which are large in Asan.

On the 11th, Kim Jung-kyu, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, the Asan branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and working-level members of Dunpo and Yeongin Nonghyup, the integrated body, held their first working-level meeting at the Agricultural Technology Center to discuss the establishment of an integrated tribute corporation.

The plan to establish an integrated RPC will be decided through consultation between the subjects.

After completing the establishment of an integrated tribute corporation this year, the city applied to the government for a modernization facility project and aims to produce integrated RPC rice in 2026.

If integration is achieved, it will be possible to receive government funds such as modernization of facilities from the government and diversify items.

The city plans to integrate all four locations, including Dunpo and Yeongin, and RPC in Inju and Captain in the future, as well as the integration of rice dry storage facilities (DSCs) for each agricultural cooperative in the future.

Director Kim Jung-kyu said, "We will do our best to ensure successful progress as there is a consensus that RPC integration is a must, not a choice, to secure Asan's clear rice competitiveness."
