Asan City held a briefing session on the launch of a feasibility study service to make the development of the "Try-Port Asan Port" a 100-year future project.

According to Asan City on the 30th, Inju-myeon (1.36 million㎡) was reflected in the "3rd National Port Basic Plan" in 2016, starting with the comprehensive development plan of Asan Port in 1995, but was excluded from the "4th National Port Basic Plan."

Accordingly, the city plans to discover the feasibility and promotion strategy for the development of Tri-Port Asan Port through this research service and reflect it in the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' "4th Basic Port Plan Amendment Plan" announced in 2025.

The research service will be carried out by Dongseo Engineering until May next year, with a total service cost of KRW 304 million.

When the research service is completed, the city plans to prepare a basic idea that utilizes the location and symbolic characteristics of Asan Bay and review related functions and sizes to prepare problems and solutions for port development.

About 30 people, including city councilor Hong Soon-chul, port, logistics, and marine environment experts, Asan City's Participatory Self-Governing Committee, residents' representatives, and related government officials, attended the launch report held at the City Hall's situation room on the 28th.

On this day, Dongseo Engineering explained that it plans to focus on △ Asan Port Development Conditions and Prospects △ Connection and Cooperation of surrounding regions △ Basic Direction of Asan Port Development △ Asan Port Development Vision and Roadmap △ Review of water facilities and surrounding areas.

Experts put more weight on preparing reality as a service task.

Specifically, △Development of logic to break through the trend of disallowing reclamation plans △Economic cost of maintenance other than port construction costs △Strengthening linkage of the Bay Valley Mega City circular railway plan in Chungcheongnam-do △Reason analysis of Asan Port's exclusion from Pyeongtaek and Dangjin ports.

Mayor Park Kyung-gui said, "This research service is significant in that it provides a basic idea to secure the feasibility and demand for the development of Asan Port," stressing, "The development of Asan Port depends on Asan's 100-year future."

"We are going to remind you of the historical fact that Asan was a port and open the door to the sea. At the national level, ports should be developed and Asan should become an industrial city with international trade ports, he said. "In that sense, I believe this study will be a new catalyst for Korea's maritime port policy."
